Rae Ellis is that rare artist that emerges from obscurity to the forefront with her own unique sound, style and her own authenticity in a genre filled with cookie cutter artist that often sound like every other artist that wants "sing for Jesus." This project is one that many have waited for with great anticipation and Ms. Ellis delivers and does not disappoint. Her vocal dexterity is warm and is describe at best as "soul fire sultry" with the bulk of this music set playing middle ground with jazz infused ballads. Long awaited project from Rae Ellis, has been worth the wait. Even if you've heard older singles, the arrangments are new and fresh. The mix is amazing, turn the sound down to barely audible, and you can still clearly hear the parts rhodes, Hammond, bass, strings, drums and then there are the vocals. I'm pretty sure this will be in heavy rotation for me for a while... is it possible to wear out an MP3? Let's try!
