Wow, so much downtempo/chillout/ambient music better than this. I streamed the whole album and its defiently not my cup of tea! I have been buying/listening to various genres of electronic music for years(starting in the 80s). This is a weak effort. I am not a good judge though, I didn't like their fluffy cloud stuff either.

Great Music to Get Lost In

I’ve listened to the CD version of this album (which only includes the first four tracks) at least seven times all the way through and loved it from the first listen. There’s not one part of this whole album that I don’t like, and whenever I listen to it, I start with the first track and let it play to the end of the album (it plays so well as a whole). This album is very ambient and very enjoyable to have on in the background. Even if you are not directly paying attention to the sounds, you are somehow drawn into the world it creates and play an active role in experiencing it. That might be the main characteristic of ambient music, and if so, Moonbuilding does it so well. This album is really good and I find it just as enjoyable as Aphex Twin’s “Syro," which is one of the best albums I’ve heard in years. Highly recommend this album. It has become essential listening for me. (Also, I have not listened to The Orb in the past. Really impressed with this release by them.)

I have been listening to The Orb since '91 and this release picks up the thread of their early musicality that resurfaced with Metallic Spheres and eschews the silliness and hardness of the Kompakt period replacing it with ambient spaces and beats. Destined to be a new classic.
