Carmenita is a cathartic exploration of the artist's personal dealings with child sexual abuse. Once a young and trusting child, eager to please, Carmenita sustains her abuser's "affection" until she develops the character, Carmen. Carmen symbolizes her dual personality that dissociates herself from reality.
