August 11, 2017 WINDSOR (WBNG)-- Windsor Central School District's Summer Program features a variety of sports camps each week. It's offered to all children of a wide age range. For Windsor residents the camp is free, non-residents have to pay $80 per week. From July 24-July 27th, Windsor football staff and players ran the football camp. During the week, Broome County's semi-pro football team made a special visit to help train local athletes. "We have a lot of great varsity and JV players here, and they're helping our community get better and make Windsor one of the top ranks," said Tyson Schmitt of Windsor. Schmitt is one of the many who attended this year's football camp. Campers were taught techniques in blocking, kicking, passing and more, all being assisted by the Black Knights and Stallions. "When I was little those people that I went to camp with, I looked up to them," said Stallions Left Guard, Anibal Torres. "They were from different high schools, different areas and they showed me how to get better in everything I do. So that's all I want to do for little kids" Windsor Head Football Coach, Tim Hogan, commends the Board of Educations for giving such an opportunity to local kids. "The Board of Education asked all the coaches if they'd be interested in doing camps. Huge turnout I think every single sport in the school said yes," said Hogan. Coach Hogan said his players asked if the team can do more volunteering like this, as both campers and volunteers enjoyed it. "We get to play on this field on Fridays during the season," said Windsor Senior Jackson White. "Seeing the community here we have to give back in some way and this seems like the best way to do it. " "When we come back we want to see a good Windsor team that we created," said Windsor Junior, Kieran Horton If you know anyone who has, or performs selfless acts, email MiSchwartz@WBNG.com to possibly be featured on the next Southern Tier Selflessness!
