The word SONGS is our common intention for today’s Earth contemplation. This video shows real images of the Earth from Monday June 15, 2020, captured by the NASA/DSCOVR satellite located 1 million miles away. We live on a singing planet. Billions of years ago, the creation of the atmosphere allowed the possibility of sound (no sound in the cosmic void). Sounds were mainly geological (volcanoes, rocks cracking) and meteorological (storms, rains, winds). When life appeared, new sounds appeared with the emergence of the vegetal world (sounds of the wind in leaves), and then living creatures in the sea, on the ground or in the sky, started to make noise when they were walking, digging, flapping their wings. Then creatures started to produce sounds in purpose, to get protected, to seduce others, to get identifiied (chicks of emperor penguins can recognize the vocal signature of their parents in colonies of 10 000 birds), to communicate and create social communities. These sounds then magically led to singing, organized and harmonious sound creations, for certain species: marine mammals, frogs and toads and insects. It is not known precisely when humans started to sing, probably initially to imitate nature. Remains of bone flutes were found in Lascaux and Chauvet caves, 40 000 years ago. Former broadway performer Frolic Taylor said ““People use song as a way to release emotional pain and connect with their souls”. This is very clear when you hear the voice of Yael Naim in her song “Heaven” composed for our Mother Earth on OneHome. Our entire planet is singing, when will we start hearing her singing and connect with her soul? This is one of the dreams of the OneHome project.
