SCREENSAVER is a choreographic work by Aleksandar Georgiev. SCREENSAVER Screensavers are sexy, Screensavers are smart, Screensavers are healthy, they slow down your heart. There will be some display of sweet and savor, There will be people-saving from screens and bad behavior, It will remind you of all possible worlds, yesterday's pains, today's talks and tomorrow's new-waver. Screensavers are sexy, Screensavers are smart, Screensavers are healthy, they slow down your heart. It's a dance that’s been danced, It's a memory of the dance enhanced, It's the cinematic event of your sick little romance. And what if the dance doesn’t want to be danced? And what if you don’t get a chance for romance? Will you still take part in this landscape of ease And save all experience for a future nostalgia glance? Screensavers are sexy, Screensavers are smart, Screensavers are healthy, they slow down your heart. ............................ SCREENSAVER might appear as a dance practice, but it is in fact an erotic TV pop show or just an absurd video advertising of the dance archive one caries from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. An archive that speculatively opens space for other temporalities that have dealt differently with dance, so they could simultaneously co-exist within today’s perception of dance and choreography. A space where a dance danced thousand times, or the memory of that dance and the dance we have seen so many times and we all carry within, could finally be experienced. A space for a dance of a future nostalgia. SCREENSAVER creates a climate of satisfaction while experiencing dance and choreography as a cinematographic memory in our own bodies. SCREENSAVER – dancing in the future nostalgy – is part of the research CO-series. This research is an episodically structured choreographic series which deals with today’s practices of co-existing. SCREENSAVER is the first episode of CO-series, which appeared as a clear interest during an artistic residency at the THOR Studios in Brussels, 2019, and further developed, within an artistic residency context, at ccap and c.off in Stockholm, 2019, then Konstnärsnämnden in Stockholm, 2020, and Kino Kultura in Skopje, 2020. The core team on the research since the beginning of this episode is comprised of Aleksandar Georgiev (choreographer/performer), Zhana Pencheva (performer) and Darío Barreto Damas (performer). Along the way, many different artists have joined the processes of screensaving: Nina Gojić, Igor Koruga, Dragana Zarevska, Tsvetan Momchilov, Aleksandra Petrushevska, Katerina Tosheva, Gjorgji Despodov and Tereza Lazarev. ....................
