The Gippsland railway line has now been de-electrified beyong Pakenham and the wires have been cut down. The line was originally electrified as far as Traralgon and was used for heavy briquette traffic as well as passenger traffic which was handled by 25 L class electric locomotives from the early 1950s. The section between Traralgon and Warragul was de-electrified firstly, with the still electrified section between Warragul and Pakenham being kept available for electric suburban trains which were later cut back to Pakenham. This video is of the electric trains as they were between Warragul and Droun before the overhead wiring was cut down. Also, there are some shots of diesel electric locomotive hauled passenger trains which initially replaced the electric locomotive hauled trains.
