Two pilots on board an Airbus A300 mid-size cargo carrier died on Wednesday morning after the plane crashed near an airport in Birmingham, Alabama.<br /><br />According to reports, the aircraft, enroute from Louisville, Kentucky to Birmingham, Alabama, crashed in an open field owned by the airport, approximately 1/2 mile north of Runway 18.<br /><br />The crash happened at about 6 a.m. and was followed by at least three explosions, local media reported. <br /><br />The debris was estimated to cover an area of about half a mile.
