Intervention <br /> <br />I am forced to sit here, <br />Face full of tears. <br />Listening to something, <br />I don’t want to hear. <br /> <br />So what if I do it? <br />Who are you to exclude it? <br />It’s my body and my mind, <br />Who are you to accuse it? <br /> <br />I don’t want to listen, <br />And hear about addiction. <br />I want you to go away, <br />So I can re-cloud my vision. <br /> <br />So what if I miss work, <br />Sit at home in the dark. <br />This is what I do now, <br />So don’t even start. <br /> <br />This stuff helps me function, <br />Be happy with nothing. <br />Make this screwed up life, <br />One of less destruction. <br /> <br />But I need it now more than ever, <br />Everyday, In any weather. <br />It’s changed my whole life, <br />And not all for the better. <br /> <br />My love went up in smoke, <br />Much like the drugs that come and go. <br />Now I’m left here all alone, <br />Nothing but drugs to fill this empty soul…<br /><br />Nigel Koester<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/intervention-4/
