Today,
let me get drenched
in this romantic downpour of purple-grape rain
and let me drown in this intoxicating elixir…

Bitter-sweet vermilion tickles my taste-buds
But a few sips will not quench the thirst of centuries
So shatter all the crystal glasses
and transport me to those scarlet taverns and secret wine-cellars
where I can greedily gulp down
all the aging wines stowed in
corky casks and brown barrels!

Honey-gold nectar tempts me to kiss the rim of fragile phial
and the whispering wind cools the sweaty brow of my flushed face
while bliss overflows from my transparent cup of ruby-red Claret

As I dive deep in the long-stemmed
gossamer goblet of delirium,
the miseries of my life
escape from my bewitched mind
and fizz out like a bubbly champagne!

Though I have often died deliriously a thousand times
in my diaphanous decanter,
Its time to refill my empty flask with the fiery liquid lava
and sip the velvety-red chalice
to smoothly sail in my tipsy tumbler of temptation
midst the passionate burgundy storms…

When waves rise in the golden carafe
My drowsy eyes blur, speech slurs, steps stagger
and I pass out in the amorous arms
of my sweet sorceress…

Copyright ©2008 Bharat B.
