To define a friend is such a hard task,
but to find one has only to ask.
Will you be my friend?
Play with me to the end
of recess, and then,
what was your name again?

Some friends are for a lifetime;
They know what makes you reason and rhyme.
The goals you've set,
The challenges you've met,
Your frustrations and the way you get
when you've won a bet.

Other friends are for a moment, an hour, a day,
Someone that is next to you as you journey through the fray.
A co-worker at the next desk,
The bartender at Eagle's Nest,
The person sitting on the bench you choose to rest
as your children play at a local fest.

Friends can be people you've never even seen,
Keystrokes at the end of a nonexistent beam,
Their words can make you smile,
Even through the miles,
Their kind comments and encouragement get you through your trials.

To all my friends I have out there,
My love, gratitude and appreciation I try to share,
I want you to know how I feel,
That the friendship is very real,
And that for you, as you for me, I am always here.

Sydney Daniels

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/all-my-friends/
