Like the surf in a real life ocean <br />there is always the air of devotion. <br />I reveal now my thirst <br />that I want to be first <br />on the road paved with self-promotion. <br /> <br />Having never spent time after birth <br />of a poem to judge what it's worth <br />I don't snip, cut or fiddle <br />with the end or the middle <br />thus my poems, they stay down to earth. <br /> <br />All the critics give wonderful speeches <br />they forget though that each poem reaches <br />through their magic and power <br />not the ivory tower <br />but the people in parks and on beaches. <br /> <br />So the words of the scholars, so loud <br />are not heard through the ears of the crowd. <br />what's the use of a book <br />in that Amazon look <br />if it's only the mother who's proud? <br /> <br />What is hatched as a poem, then written <br />could be seen as a small fluffy kitten. <br />Does it matter if pets <br />are approved by their vets <br />or the folks who write poems, the smitten?<br /><br />Herbert Nehrlich<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-dangers-of-writing-poetry-limerick/
