When life swirls like whirls of a whip <br />Hymns and words grope for a Savior. <br />When coffers fill with clinks of nickel <br />Shower the Giver with paeans and petals. <br /> <br /> <br />Standing in front of you with folded hands <br />I wanted to pray and ask for favors. <br />Unfold the bundle of desires and dreams <br />Persevere with my wish, to make me better. <br /> <br /> <br />Standing in front of you with hands folded in revere <br />I searched <br />For any part of my mind, that you can not see <br />For any wish in my heart, that is not your volition <br />For any word of prayer, that you did not create. <br /> <br /> <br />Years of life wasted in your search <br />In the wisdom of Vedas and jungle of scriptures <br />Hours of discourse by scholars and saints <br />Fades into silence of your vibrant presence. <br /> <br />Wrath of a typhoon or breath of a worm <br />A Yogi in trance or an army in action <br />A throbbing atom or a dying star <br />You watch them all and treat them equal. <br /> <br />Gaiety of birth and agony of death <br />Cliffs of triumph and troughs of defeat <br />Keep me in middle, on the golden mean <br />To face the world, like an innocent child. <br /> <br />Away away, you carried away <br />The center of my world and the axis of my reference <br />Gliding into Void in the cradle of your love <br />I melt in joy with your cosmic dance. <br /> <br />Standing in front of you with folded hands <br />The ecstasy of innocence, of a featherlike present; <br />Wiped away, my tears of past and fears of future <br />And I sang like a Robin among the buds of spring. <br /> <br />Standing in front of you with hands folded in revere <br />I had all the answers without asking any question.<br /><br />Raghavan Warrier<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/prayer-34/
