As the train lumbered along the craggy path, <br />And the sounds of chug smothered the engine sloth, <br />The tree branches, from the window canvas, <br />Could be seen spreading in a thoughtful pause <br /> <br />The slope of the green mingled in the park, <br />The dots of the sheep and the shriek of the lark, <br />A sudden rush of land on up and a swift turn sharp, <br />Smell of wet earth dripping into a long tunnel dark <br /> <br />The wait for the light to rise from side! <br />Close clangoring of wheels, to slowly subside, <br />The journey of life as if struggle is rife <br />The channel is left, free, with a whistle deride <br /> <br />The run of the wheel, the circle of life, <br />Juggernaut moves on the river, floating glide <br />The clang of the metal with the steely resolve, <br />The bridge passes grief and the fears dissolve <br /> <br />The shades of the field and the thatched smoke dusk, <br />The dust and the cattle settling, a whiff of musk, <br />The yellow dots of lights, far and wide, come close, <br />The town is waiting for the daily human dose <br /> <br />The stop with a start and my eyes and ear are smart, <br />The din of colony hits my senses like a dart <br />The hush and the push and the sigh and the slush <br />The dream in the journey, passed, city is here to crush! <br />_________________________________________________ <br /> <br />(09/11/2008, Hisar)<br /><br />Rajesh Kumar Vaid<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-dream-in-the-journey/
