White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett says the U.S. is close to clinching a trade deal with China.<br />In an interview with Fox Business Network, he said Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has made a lot of progress in his negotiations with his Chinese counterpart.<br />Hassett said the final trade deal would be good for the economies of both China and the U.S. <br />His positive sentiments were echoed by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.<br />His comments follow a Wall Street journal reports suggesting Presidents Trump and Xi could meet later this month to finalize a deal. <br />
