Hurricane Dorian weakened but still strong enough to damage southeastern U.S. coastline

Hurricane Dorian, which swamped the Bahamas earlier this week, was downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane on Thursday local time.<br />But it's now heading north towards the southeastern coast of the U.S. and is forecast to cause heavy damage there too.<br />For more on this and other news from around the world, let's turn to our Kim Da-mi.<br />Da-mi, give us the latest on this killer storm.<br />Hurricane Dorian did weaken but it's still potent,... threatening coastal communities in the U.S.<br />Georgia and the Carolinas have geared up against possible floods and heavy winds.<br />In fact, four states including North Carolina have declared states of emergency.<br />The U.S. National Hurricane Center announced on Thursday that Hurricane Dorian had been downgraded to a Category 2 storm as of 11AM local time.<br />Its maximum windspeed is now around 175-kilometers-per-hour.<br />According to CNN, over 210-thousand properties lost electricity in just Georgia and the Carolinas.<br />AP reported that two people died while preparing for the storm in Florida and North Carolina.<br />Dorian is expected to affect neighboring states including Virginia and Maryland with tropical winds and torrential rain until Friday morning.<br />The Bahamas,... devastated by the storm earlier on Monday, is now in deep shock and sorrow.<br />Bahamas authorities have confirmed that at least 20 people dead, with the death toll expected to rise.<br />It's estimated that almost half of the homes on the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama have been destroyed by the storm.<br />
