영국-EU, 아일랜드 국경 통관•검역절차 합의…일단 '한숨'<br /><br />The UK and EU continue to be deadlocked in reaching a Brexit-trade deal.<br />But the two sides have reached a partial breakthrough,... as it hammered out issues over Northern Ireland.<br />For more on this and other news from around the world, we turn to our Lee Kyung-eun.<br />Kyung-eun, what's the latest?<br />Mok-yeon, the UK and EU have agreed on new border rules for Northern Ireland,... on areas including border control posts, supply of medicines, and border checks on animals.<br />They will announce the details in the coming weeks.<br />Northern Ireland has been a key area of concern in Brexit,.. as that's the only part of UK that borders the EU.<br />The UK made many concessions dropping parts of the controversial Internal Market Bill.<br />The law would allow the UK to apply domestic market rules to the region.<br />However the EU maintains that the law violates their "divorce agreement",... which allows Northern Ireland to remain in the EU's single market and abide by its custom rules.<br />Despite Tuesday's breakthrough, the post-Brexit trade talks still remain in deadlock.<br />The two sides resumed negotiations this week.<br />But the EU remains largely pessimistic,...saying a "no deal" is more likely ahead of the end of the Brexit transition at the end of the year.<br />
