Preparation: Pan, water in pan, cut up your onions. I only cut up enough for 2 or 3 hot dogs. You are going to put the caramelized onions over your hot dog(s). First put water in the pan, put some brown sugar, maybe 3 tablespoons light or dark sugar. Have the flame maybe at medium, keep stirring until you see the sugar and water thicken because it is going to become a syrup. Just thicken a little before you put your onions in. I have put my onions in with the brown sugar and water and continue to stir. Do not put a lot of brown sugar because when it really thickens with the onions in it it would become very hard and you don't want to have sticky onions to put on your hot dog(s).
