I signed up for one year of the e-edition through the App Store. Not only was I not able to access the paper online, but customer service on line and via phone told me they had no record of such a transaction (I have a receipt) and were unwilling to help me. Awful company since they’ve been bought out…

I have been reading myrtle beach online for years. When it was provided thru digital olive it was perfect. Ever since you switched to McClatchy, it has been awful. Print is most times too blurry to read. I have tried the apps and logging in directly online and there is no change! Thank you so much for dumbing down!

A high school run newspaper website could outshine this
  • Update is terrible

I have enjoyed the Sun News on my iPad for at least two years. With the new format for the print edition, the ads on the left are more intrusive. There is no full screen toggle in the iOS edition. When you expand the page, the full article is cut off. You have ruined what used to be an enjoyable experience: reading the print edition online. I contacted customer support, and all they could tell me was to be patient while they work out the bugs. In the meantime I’m paying for an app I can’t use. I am cancelling my subscription and asking for a refund, since I just renewed.

The previous Myrtle Beach Online version of the Sun News was a pain in the arse to use, and cost $6.99 per month. The updated and “ improved” version is now $9.99 per month and is basically unreadable. On an iPad mini it is necessary to hold the iPad in the long direction in order to be able to see the page. This only allows you to scan the headline, you really can’t read the print, so you have to spread out the article to be able to read, but this causes the rest of the page to disappear. When you pinch back down in size several unintended things may happen. You may go back to the size you wanted, you may cause the next or previous page to pop up, or you may end up at the login page again. Very difficult to navigate and not at all user friendly. Also, since the new version is hosted by Google you pay Google not The Sun News by credit card auto pay, no choice. You want the e-edition, that’s your only choice. Again, I was paying $6.99, changed to Google, now it’s $9.99. Also, since Google hosts the e-edition you get 1/2 a page of pop up ads on every page. EVERY-FREAKING page. This basically makes the page unreadable. Pop up ads compete with content for page space! For $9.99 per month! You can’t read an article without increasing the font size by 200% so it only shows 1 -1 1/2 columns and when you try to scroll at that magnification you always get an unintended result such as page change, the home page, or leaving the app altogether. No wonder the newspaper business is failing..this is the WORST app I have ever encountered. Russell Johnson - Pawleys Island SC

Easy to maneuver from section to section. I enjoy more than I ever did the paper version. Only criticism is Emailing an article. It never reaches whoever I send to. Posting to Facebook works great!
