It’s even better the second time around. The story just constantly moves forward, effortlessly, flawlessly building momentum and the sexual tension is devine.

Reid puts minimal, if any, thought into her characters. Ryan Price’s character is a paid for hire masochist who hates his job and what he does to players on opposing teams, but loves the paycheck - so, hey, why not? The lack of depth and self-awareness to her characters and repetitive “woe-is-me” plot-lines bore me. If Reid is going to include complex issues in her stories, she needs to make more of an effort or just keep to thin Hallmarkesque characters and tales. She should have kept to the simplicity of “Game Changers”.

Enjoyed the story but writing felt a little stilted compared to other novels.

Very annoying character right from the gecko you noticed that he’s constantly acting like the victim and he seems like a pain to be around. Ryan the main character also seems like a basket case and it’s constantly a catch-up of depression and anxiety that you’re reading about. Overall, it was OK, but I would honestly just skip this book and go to the next one.

Rachel Reid delivered two very loving and unique characters in the form of Ryan and Fabian. They both have very unique perspectives on the sport that show the potential hardships players and partners of players may face. I also adore the delivery of Ryan’s anxiety and the bravery he displays throughout the novel.

The story was decently clever and enjoyable to read, but definitely did not have the same intensity or feeling of something special as the previous two books. I enjoy the authors world where all these stories are overlapping each other and contributing to an exciting world.
