WW2 through the eyes of these characters was so gripping. The love, the loss, the highs and the lows. You could truly feel each character’s role in this book. By the end I was sobbing. I can’t wait to see the move next year. Reading The Four Winds next by her. 10/10 writer!

I usually love this author’s books. I will not put any spoilers but I did not go into reading this expecting a fairy tale ending but wow! The first part of the book was very amazing but it was like author wanted to make sure. all the atrocities of war were covered in this book and all saved for the last half. I actually stopped reading by end of the final chapters. It was really too much and not heart rendering but really irritating and trite. Massive depression tied up in a bow. And please believe me when I say there are some very triggering scenes in this book.

I bought this book for a book club. Not a fan of this story. It was very slow and could not finish it.

I loved this novel. I didn’t want it to end. Kristin Hannah will become another one of my favorite authors.

I respect how the author truly wanted to honor the women whom this book was inspired from. I definitely cried few times, book tok did not fail with this recommendation !

This book pulled at every emotion possible and told a tragically beautiful story of 2 sisters living in France during WWII. The writing was very well done, the stories told were reflective of the history, and ultimately just a very well done read.

I must say that I feel that the first 100 page for so are a real slog, but after that the story becomes much more interesting. In the end, I am glad I read it.
