Description

Christopher Walken is hilarious as Nat, an eccentric con-artist and deadbeat dad dying to reconnect with his troubled son, Flynn (Alessandro Nivola, The Eye, Laurel Canyon). Diagnosed with a terminal illness, Nat shanghais his reluctant son into driving him cross-country for experimental medical treatment. Low on cash, they pull off increasingly ridiculous and embarrassing schemes along the way to reach their destination spending only $5 a day. Boasting a star-packed cast that includes Sharon Stone, Amanda Peet and Dean Cain, $5 A DAY is an irresistibly fresh and charming comedy about letting go of the past and choosing your own road.

I saw the cover and thought this was gonna be a road trip movie... well, Sharron Stone never gets in the car with the other two. rip off!

Extremely fun and quirky indie comedy. A treat for all Walken fans. Solid performances by all involved, thanks in part to a well written script that is both entertaining and smart. There's nothing here that you don't see coming, but that's not a bad thing in this case, as it's a perfectly simple character study of a dysfunctional father son relationship on the mend in this clever road movie. Well worth a rent, and a keeper for true Walken fans. He's truly one of the greatest actors of his generation.

Sorry to have to pan this movie because I love Sharon Stone, but this movie was just plain awful. Story was bad and the acting was horrible.

This has to be the best flick I've seen in a while. Probably in my Top 10 for 2010!
  • Cover mis-leads you. But its a great movie!

This is not a fast paced movie. It's not meant to be. Its one of those movies that you absorb slowly and at the end you appreciate it for its quirkiness as well as the great acting. I really liked the story line as well. One thing to note: Sharon Stone never rides in the car with them. Its a slight mis-advertisement. Actually, the "cover" doesn't give you the right feeling for the movie.
  • You cannot go wrong with Walken

As usual, it makes absolutely no difference what the plot is. Once Christopher Walken appears on the screen, says his first line, your hooked. He plays the perfect character made for him, each spoken word that is written for him must have been written thinking how it would sound if he spoke it. This seems to be the case with every movie he is in. He is that kind of actor. Either you love watching him or you don't know who he is or you have seen him and he not your cup of tea. For me he's an enigma among actors. Iv never seen a movie with him that the part did not suit him just right. Watch, enjoy and soak up the sunlight of Christopher Walken's acting. Pure delight.

I really don't see a point of advertising this movie for 18 months before it will come out.....
