This is a cd to listen to over and over. Destination is a perfect opener and Under The Milky Way follows. Hotel Womb ends the album in mind expanding style. It used to be the cd I listen to most, maybe ever.

Moody. Cool. Trippy, Cerebral. Original. Great chemistry, musicianship and production. Amazing lyrics performed with strength and weakness and emotion. This is a real piece of art and even without Milky Way, a great listen all the way through!

Trends fade and reappear then quietly disappear. Very few groups survive the enormous tide of change, much less one lonely album. 'Starfish' is an album that has weathered extremely well in the tumult. Every lyrical conceit and almost every melody, are rooted in something more universal. A gorgeous album.

This is my favorite album by The Church, that's for sure! Almost every song on this album is good to listen too. Don't you think? I'm a really big fan of Under the Milky Way, and other tracks. Great alternative rock band from the 80's, and they had a new album from last year, Further Deeper. The Church's old and new music rocks!
  • Holds up amazing well - even today

I'm an 80's kid, and I'm guessing I just missed these guys because of where I was. I'd heard "under the milk way," but that was it. I only recently "discovered" this album just the other day, and I'm incredibly impressed with how good it sounds. It's "under-produced" which is a good, good thing. I think a lot of 80's music doesn't hold up well today because it was over-produced. This is a very musical album, and extremely well-done... I thought I'd stumbled on a "greatest hits" album when I first heard it. (now, off to track down that greatest hits album...)

I remember a good friend of mine introducing me to this album when it came out back when I was in high school. I loved it then, but I haven't had the album for about 20 years. Just found it on iTunes and bought it. As soon as I started listening to the first song "Destination", it instantly took me back with the same feelings I had when hearing it for the first time. Do yourself a favor and buy this album!
  • Their Bob Beamon Moment

In the 1968 summer Olympics, American long jumper Bob Beamon came out of nowhere to beat the world record by nearly two feet. Beamon fell to his knees when he saw the distance on the screen, and the record stood for nearly 23 years. Similarly, The Church hadn't made much of a mark before this album, and their follow-up in 1991 was a big disappointment (at least for me). But Starfish is a minor masterpiece, their Bob Beamon moment. 24 years later and I still can't pick my favorite track. Just such quality throughout the disc. Enjoy.

I liked the reviews posted here, which are honest and very true. A great album through and through. I question iTunes review though with the "okay vocal" on " A New Season", a track that I feel is a great one. I remember when "Under The Milky Way " came out. I loved that record, and I still do.

The church, specifically this album, has been part of my collection for years, since there inception. This is, as many others have mentioned, a fantastic unique album to own. Unique in that you really can enjoy the whole album 'Under the Milky Way' without scanning through to the next track......they are all great tunes! New Season being my Fav!
