  • WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?

When Bruce's first album "The Way it Is" came out, I was in the middle of my college years. 1986-87 was a year of pure hell with both personal and academic issues. Hornsby's music came out of literally nowhere thanks to a Grand Rapids DJ named Eres who played the hell out of his music. It was the bright side of a very dismal time in my life and I bought the cassette and wore it out. When "Scenes of The Southside" was released a year or so later, it became the soundtrack of my year of recovery from the mess that had been made of my life. Both albums when I listen to them today, remind me of the triumph and tragedy of being a young adult in the latter half of the 1980's. Then there was "A Night On The Town" which heralded the start of my post college years. These albums were Bruce at his best and showed that he had a talent and sound that managed to sound fresh and unique even after three albums. So what the hell happened? All of a sudden, Bruce changed not only the sound but the feel of his music. Making matters worse, Hornsby went back and redid his classics so that they were both unrecognizable and unlistenable. There were a few notable exceptions where he was kind enough to remember his roots. "Tide Will Rise", "Fields Of Gray" and his cover of Grateful Dead's "Jack Straw" recaptured his original sound. His cover of Jackson Browne's "I'm Alive" was a worthy effort as well. As far as the rest of it, FORGET IT. I wish Bruce would rediscover the sound that put him on the map in the first place. I really miss it.

iTunes finally has the complete box set!!! Song H is lovely. It was a disservice to not have it when Intersections was originally added
  • Don't buy this from iTunes!

What the hell? One of the best box sets ever and iTunes gives it the "partial" treatment. Do your self a favor -- grab the actual physical manifestation for a real and tactile experience.
  • Itunes has lost another customer.

Really don't understand this corporate bull. Apple makes so freaking much money and yet they think by not giving us the whole cd they can make more. They are losing touch with the people that made them.

Song H is my favorite song on the album. I really am sad that it's not available on iTunes.
  • Partial albums are a crime against music!!!

I was so excited when I saw this box set listed among the Hornsby titles; but I should have known iTunes would be lame and exclude over half the tracks! Waste of time.
