Machinedrum produced Theo and helped him get his start. If you think this album is good just check out and see what the mastermind behind Theo's sound is doing. MACHINEDRUM - he's the original, and he deserves his break too!

Theo is not only an incredible artist, he is an amazing performer and a great guy. In the spring of '09, he performed at my high school for a benefit concert and helped us raise over $10k. His material is unique, a blend of incredible remixes and original material. His albums don't really do him justice however, he needs to be heard and seen live to truly appreciate his talent. If you like this, check out his other 2 mixtapes. Definitely unique, but hints of Kid Cudi, Walle, Ratatat, and older Kanye to name a few. Just buy it, its great.

Theophilus London is very talented, but while it seems the album might be ground breaking, it really isn't. If anyone has been following Gilles Peterson's radio show for the last 10 years, this kind of hip hop has been around for a while in the UK already. That being said, its about time that the the states finally put out a good genre bending artist. He is the response to sellouts Kanye and Pharrell. He's evolved and transcended their style. This album has broken beat, new wave, elements of dub step, and loooottttss of soul. Unheard of genres in the states. He also doesn't compromise his style; there is no attempt at all here to sound mainstream. Its a fun listen and his lyrics are great. Not to mention machine drum puts on a sick show. I recommend this to anyone who likes pharrell's old stuff, indie, and that uk broken beat and garage sound. Cheers Theo. Good job!

I was very disappointed when I finally heard London's debut. Instead of trying to put forth an artistic effort, it seems like he wants to be the hipster rapper who comes out of nowhere. However, "nowhere" is from where he came and shall remain. I saw an interview he did some months ago, and he seemed like such a nice kid. But this album is filled with so much crass language and immature themes that I'm surprised he hasn't become a crossover sensation, since that's what sells these days. But that probably won't happen, since there are no hit songs on this album. All that cussin' and fussin', and we can't even rock to it. London may as well have scrapped his entire project and started over from scratch. Too bad he didn't have people around him who would tell him the truth about his "music" before he released it. Save your money and wait for something better to come out.
