I just finished loading my iPod up with selected songs from all the Toni's albums, then I loaded Instant Vintage, Ray Ray WITH THE BONUS TRACK "Screams", All Hits at the House of Blues, Boyz N Tha Hood (Me & You), Ask of You and The Way I See It, which I LOVED by the way. Not to mention I got Total's "Do You Think About Us" on there. Plus, I seen Saadiq live at the Fox out here in Atlanta a couple years ago...So, what I'm about to say is not coming from a some with ignorant ears... Saadiq is the most innovative musician this century. He doesn't have to rely on other writers and producers, he does it clearly from skill and talent. R. Kelly is the only musician I see that can hang, but honestly...I just can't get with this song. "Love That Girl" immediately caught me & I loved it from then till now. "Never Gonna Give You Up", "Sometimes"...I love it! But this song here, while I respect the engineering, recording, mixing & mastering of this song, it just doesn't do it for me. There is absolutely no emotion that I have in my body that relates to it. I know of the Beatles, Beach Boys and all that, but I can't even see Saadiq or his background singers performing this song, nor could see it being played live anywhere in front of any audience. A commercial? Of course, but not for a paying public. This is just my opinion and not to be taken out of context. Like I said, I love Saadiq's music, but I am entitled to give my opinion since I am a consumer.

Would have given it a zero if I could. Bring back the good Tony!Toni!Tone! music.

I like the song but artist have to evolve you don't want everything sounding the same, but every once in a while I would like a taste of that Instant Vintage Saadiq and that TTT
  • Agreed!

I agree with most of the people commenting. I used to tell people to check Saadiq out, but the innovation has left his music. I've got faith in him though. Keep working at it Saadiq.
  • An all-time great singer but it sounds like he's shot, to me

Dude. Please get back to the style you had on "Instant Vintage" and "Ray Ray" and get off this generic 50s/60s sounding crap! I thought he would have learned, after his last attempt at this sound (2008's "The Way I See It") flopped, that nobody wants to hear this from him.
  • Missing the old Saadiq

I see people complaining about the song...I suppose they'd rather some auto-tune infused "music." The last album continues to be one of my favorites. Based on this song, I'm excited for the new album. I doubt I'll hear enough of his music on today's radio...which is exactly the reason why I rely on my ipod over silly programming.
  • Disapppointed

Let me start by saying I adore Raphael Saadiq and listen to him all of the time. But this song is just plain boring. I am so disappointed with this effort. Come on Mr. Saddiq, how about a return to your oh so soulful self.
  • He is soo great!
