Albini producing the mighty High on Fire? Oh no... Albini takes the massive sonic hurricane of HoF, compacts it, and gives it a laser-esque focus...and the results couldnt have been better. There is not a weak track on here and a case can be made for any of the songs to be considered the best of the album. Devilution was the single, but all the other songs stand shoulder to shoulder with it...The acoustic "solo" in the middle of The Face of Oblivion is a new twist for HoF but might be my faveorite part of the album... Dont miss out on this one...

To begin, I've gotta say, the album art is epic. But back to the album, it is freakin' heavy! I really like some of the acoustic parts like in To Cross The Bridge, and Blessed Black Wings. This album will kick you and the teeth and blow out your ear drums at the same time.

This album is just fabulous. It pummels, yes, but also packs in an amazing amount of emotion. My favorite is Brother in the Wind. It's pretty amazing how beautiful this song can be, given it's a full-on power chord assault. Matt Pike at his best.

HoF sounds the way the album cover looks. Blessed Black Wings is without a doubt one of the best songs ive ever heard. And with others like Cometh Down Hessian and Devilution, this is a must own for those looking for real metal.

High on Fire are so sick. They rock hard core metal riffs with shredding vocals that will tear the walls down. They bring the straight ahead fury of Mastodon and Baroness (sic!) with out the build and swell vibe of isis. The result? 100% pure metal satisfaction.

I really hate reading reviews from people that make ridiculous statements like 'this is the greatest album ever!!!' I mean, where's the credibility in that? I can objectively say that, if you like heavy metal, you should just buy this album in its entirety, right now, instead of buying it one piece at a time, which is what you will ultimately end up doing after you buy one or two tracks now.

This album is so good. At first I didn't like this album & I thought I wasted my money, but after a few listens I changed my mind. This is now one of my favorite albums. My fav songs are Cometh Down Hessian, Blessed Black Wings, Anointing of Seer, & Sons of Thunder.

In my opinion, this is their best album so far. "Surrounded by Thieves" never reached the amount of pure, earth-shaking, mountain-destroying metal this is. My favorite song so far is "The Face of Oblivion", this song is often overlooked by the other, faster tracks on the album..... but this particular track is probably the heaviest. The last 2 minutes and 37 seconds of the song is some of the heaviest stuff I have heard. This is a definite must-buy for any metalhead.
