Demo video of augmented reality sculpture 'Castrato Superstar' (made for The Becks Green Box Project). 'Castrato Superstar' is an augmented reality sculpture based on a true story. It's the story of Paul Texel, a natural castrate opera singer. A man with the voice of a woman, who was discovered by Andy Warhol and in the 1980s lead a chameleonic, kaleidoscopic life. Paul looked like a mannequin and shone like a star. A Castrato Superstar. Performances were a whirlwind of costume changes, masking his often poor technique. He was a regular entertainer at celebrity parties -‐ until he became silent. In 2008 he even lost his home. Now, Paul is making a comeback. Here in the Green Box Project, in the twilight zone between the real and the virtual, Paul sings in his true voice. For the first time, at the age of 60, he shows the world who he really is.
