2000, Apple had just introduced the iMac DV with it's iMovie editing software and I was excited about the ability to insert professional looking text and credits into my videos. I toyed with the idea of making a film that was entirely credits but realized credits only worked if they followed a movie to credit. I then came up with the idea of fast-forwarding the movie to get to the credits sooner. I tied that concept with another idea about donating my paycheck as a piece of performance art and wrote the script to Extra Credit. I purchased an iMac DV and a Sony digital8 Handycam (expensive purchases on a museum guard salary) and recorded the footage after-hours in the Seattle Art Museum galleries. The new computer also allowed me to record my own music, using a $2 adaptor to jack my guitar into the mic input and hoping it didn't fry anything. This film was accepted into almost every film festival I entered (and some that I didn't) and ran for a couple months in the Bellevue Arts Museum auditorium. It also received a 4 star review on Film Threat. A short film by Aaron Bourget.
