Hausaltar 2001 (House-Altar) Installation-room: Fridge, three Super 8 Loops with timer The three super-8 film loops will never be shown simultaneously. A specially tuned program with three digital timers ensures that each loop alternates exactly in 10 minute interval. The large fridge from which the recordings were made in the studio at HGK Basel was placed on the wall in the show room where with its closed door it functions as a screen. In one particular case the fridge is very important as a projection screen: The continuous projection of an opening and closing door covering the real closed door so that the onlooker is irritated by the reality shift of a virtual opening door with the real closed door. As a result there is a strange mixture of the virtual reality with real reality. Next to the fridge around the corner there is a tiled section of the wall with a sink. On this wall a slide show was running of portraits of persons in front of their own fridge with the described scenery conveying the impression of a kitchen-like atmosphere.
