Beatles

As a child of the 50's a massive influence on me were The Beatles, both through their image and their music. My first record purchase was the single 'She Loves You'. I belonged to the fan club. I saw them perform live and I bought the souvenirs. I smoked my first cigarettes listening to their music. In the 1980's I came to know photographer Bob Freeman, who was The Beatles photographer for some years and was responsible for the early album covers. I have every album they released, both on Vinyl and on CD. Their music is very much a part of me. The Beatles mixes original items; the mug, the single, the ashtray - with replica ones; the fan club letter, ticket stubs, cavern membership card. In the image is an album cover, which is part of a re-release set given to me to replace the long worn out original. The image reflected in the coffee is by Bob Freeman. The Beatles is a recreation of a memory and in creating this I have imposed my narrative on a collection of objects. As a result this cinegraph has become a reality.
