Mike Concannon plays along on his Sadowsky Metro 4 string UV70 bass guitar along with one of his favourite recordings, Randy Crawford and The Crusaders 1979 hit "Street Life". It was recorded with the bass turned up quite loud, so that Mike could clearly hear the notes during play back on this practice track. Mike says, "I wouldn't ordinarily play the bass part this loud in a group situation." Street Life is the title track from the 1979 studio album of the same name. It was written by Will Jennings, and the superb keyboard player on this recording, Joe Sample. Other members of The Crusaders original line up on this track include, Wilton Felder, (Tenor & Soprano Sax and Bass Guitar); Stix Hooper (Drummer); who are joined on this recording by Barry Finnerty (Guitar). It became the group's most successful entry on the Soul Chart, where it reached #17. Street Life also hit the Disco Chart, peaking at #75. The original album track was 11 minutes long. Mike says his is the 6 minute 12 inch record version.
