Being held in a cell <br />In a dungeon full of hate <br />Awaiting my execution <br />Is this my fate? <br /> <br />Locked in a spell <br />I lay staring <br />Wondering, dreaming <br />Can I escape? <br /> <br />I hear the groans <br />I hear the screams <br />I think to myself <br />Why am I here? <br /> <br />I begin to wonder <br />If what they say is true <br />For I cannot recollect <br />What crime did I commit? <br /> <br />I awaken from my thoughts <br />Faint whispers I hear <br />Coming ever closer <br />What are they saying? <br /> <br />I cannot make out the words <br />As the figure draws nearer <br />I hear the rustle of keys <br />Is it my turn to die? <br /> <br />The smell of a thousand deaths <br />Grows ever stronger <br />Suddenly the screaming stops <br />How much longer have I? <br /> <br />The flicker of a candle <br />The whistling of the wind <br />I wait forever impatiently <br />Will they come for me? <br /> <br />I begin to remember <br />Scenes of horror fill my head <br />I try to shut them out <br />Could this be real? <br /> <br />The night grows colder <br />The darkness grows thicker <br />Feverishly I begin to shiver <br />Have I done these wicked things? <br /> <br />Time passes by ever slowly <br />These sounds I hear <br />Becoming ever louder <br />How can one stand such noise? <br /> <br />The screams have resumed <br />The figure moves ever closer <br />My anticipation mounts <br />Is it my time yet? <br /> <br />My life flashes before me <br />Never before have I felt <br />So restless, I cannot bear <br />Oh why won't they hurry? <br /> <br />The figure approaches <br />Grasping the keys in hand <br />The screaming grows louder <br />Am I ready for this? <br /> <br />The end must be near <br />For they have come for me <br />The groans and screams I hear <br />Could they be mine?<br /><br />Christopher G.
