  • Re-designed Stats page is bad

The recent change to the Stats page is really bad. It appears to be formatted more for an iPhone than the wider screen of an iPad. On the iPad, which is how we usually do the crossword, there is a lot of wasted space and you can no longer compare the Average/This Week/Best times on the same page. It was very helpful to visually see that data presented together which made the graphs actually comparable. I understand how this new layout could be considered better on iOS, but there needs to be a redesign for iPad OS that displays these graphs at the same time and takes advantage of the available screen real estate. Also, please bring back the decimal point on the Solve Rate!

The NYT Games app is amazing. My family plays most of the games daily. We love it! How in 2025 though does this not have dark mode?!?! Each game has a toggle, but why can’t the app just follow the system settings like every other app is able to? Please fox this NYT!

I do not want to play with other people and I hate having an identifier which your system forces me to have. I’m having to delete the app and reload it to keep it off my acct

  • Worst dark mode

Individual games have dark mode, but not the main menu. And even worse, when winning some games, I get hit with a bright white win screen, blinding me. Please make the whole app more dark mode friendly for bed time playing.

Solid variety of puzzles with a pretty generous monetization model and extremely non-obtrusive ads. It's a great little thing to work into your daily routine for waking up or maintaining lateral thinking skills.

Hey, I love most of these games but considering this is a game rated 4+ on the app store, the purple connections category for today (8/2/2025) is… ew. Not only is this inappropriate and sets parents up for an awkward conversation, but puts the kids that play word games like this at a disadvantage. -Coming from a child that is salty about almost losing the connections… please stop. I play this game with my mother…

My only complaint for the iPad app is that the puzzle title (when there is one) doesn’t appear. Sometimes when I go online to NYT for help, it will mention that the title of the puzzle clues us in. My in-app view of the puzzle only shows the date. I do see the titles if I just go to the web browser to play, but then what’s the point of having the app?

These puzzles are such high quality are super fun! I really enjoy the daily themes and difficulty because it feels like a challenge at times and easier at other times. It really can help that boredom and I really look forward to each and every different game there is to offer! The subscription is totally worth it too! :)
  • I love it daily, but new “Me” needs work

I’ve enjoyed the Games app for years. Over time they’ve added more clever, fun games. I can’t have my morning coffee without my NYT games, and vice versa. The new “Me” tab is nice for bringing some commonality to the stats for several games, but it harms the stats we’ve had for years for the crossword. We can no longer see this week, average and best all at the same time on the same graph. It’s more work now, and less intuitively visual how today’s result compares to one’s history. Please bring back the three-in-one bar chart! I don’t care whether it’s horizontal or vertical.
