WordGirl, Vol. 3

Give this show a chance. That's really all you need to do. If you give this show a chance, then you can see what it really is. It's not just some old regular educational kid's show on PBS that you see nowadays. Sure, it is on there, but there's more to it than that. The first thing I'd like to point out it that if you want to watch this show recreationally, you can. The writing is decent. I'm not going to say that it is the best, but it's better than other educational children's shows out there today. There is a fair amount of humor in it. Second thing I'd like to mention is the cast. You've got Chris Parnell (Cyril, Archer; Dr. Leo Spaceman, 30 Rock), Tom Kenny (just about every animated children's show, but notably Spongebob Squarepants), Maria Bamford, Cree Summer (Cleo the Poodle, Clifford the Big Red Dog; Penny, Inspector Gadget), Patton Oswalt (Remy, Ratatouille; Spencer Olchin, The King of Queens), Grey DeLisle (Azula, Avatar: The Last Airbender; Vicky, The Fairly OddParents), and many other notable actors providing voice talent for this show. That's a lot of A-list actors for just one educational show. A third note that should be known is the educational value. This show has quite a bit of it. After all, it was designed to teach children vocabulary. If you have children or younger siblings, then this is a perfect show for them. Even you might learn some things from this show. (I had no idea 'oodles' was even a word before watching this.) Sure, the show has some flaws. The writing could be a bit better, the characters could be utilized more, and I'd like some more backstory (more about Lexicon, WordGirl's heritage, ect.). But if you look past the flaws, you've got something that is worth your time.

I can't believe, "Word Girl," is actually available on iTunes. I wonder if there are more volumes of this show available.
