  • Incredible!

I am a casual fan of Iron and Wine but becoming more avid with each album. I can never understand the comments people make about "selling out" and complaining that his style is changing...that's a good thing. Do you wnt to hear him make the same songs every album? He was not meant to please only you? Anyway, I think this album is indeed incredible, in my opinion! These songs are beautifully written and compliment his voice and guitar playing...the fact that he is evolving makes his music more inclusive and brings in new fans. Don't like it?... you can put on his old album that you like ...and now we both have something to be happy about!

I really tried hard to like Ghost on Ghost, to varying levels of success. I didn't have to try at all to love this album. This instantly felt familiar and comforting, which is why I've always loved Iron & Wine. Great album, with my personal favorite song being "Song in Stone."

Sam can do no wrong. Just wish he still had Brian Blade on drums!
  • Crisp Sound

I don't know how those other reviewers could say what they said since it just came out today. This is a pleasant return to form for Sam without doing the exact same thing as his earliest albums. This man is brilliant and there is much to be grateful for.
  • bored now

Yet another amazing musician who has caught the success=boredom syndrome. Kiss Each Other Clean was just awful. This new album is just boring. He is capable of so much more. All the musical nuances and emotion from his early music is gone and now he just makes generic fluff. Oh well.

Call it dreaming is one of those songs that really speaks to your heart. It just flows into a unique soundscape and it's hook is lyrical. This is classic Sam Beam.
  • Speaks to my Heart

About 15 years ago, I was creating a journal page on artists I turn to in certain circumstances, and I wrote that Sam Beam goes straight to my heart. If this first song is any indication, the feeling remains the same. His tenderness in both words and melodies just move me--it's that simple!

This is horrible. Y'all can tell he sold out by the subliminal imagery used on the front cover, it's clearly more than just a "beautiful embroidery". It's been years since he and the band have lost that unique raw indie sound all to the studio arrangement crap that it is today. The true essence has been gone for such a long time now they should just go ahead and rename themselves. Like if y'all really are still going to by, and you really feel the direction of the music is fine, then that's on you. ๐Ÿ—‘

All his albums range in scope from very stripped down like on creek drank to my personal fave kiss each other clean which is a way jazzier and fully realized sound. Check out his albums with calexico. Fully stoked for new material whatever direction its going in
