I just discovered the song 'Carried Home' after having been in love with the full album, 'The Shepherd's Dog', for some time. This is a hauntingly beautiful song. Highly recommended if you love the full album, and vice versa.

You get "Kingdom of the Animals" too when you buy it off their website. The song is the best song of the three in my opinion. Only gets three stars cause it's missing that song.

A very catchy track. I first thought I was listening to a new Lindsey Buckingham single.
  • Love both songs!

Good sound and good voice. The lyrics leave room for the listners imagination. I'm looking foward to the new release.

if these songs are any indication, it should definitely be a step in the right direction for sam. in the meantime check out the colorful quiet's album "sounds of the countryside". good stuff there as well...
  • Boy With A Coin should be voted as Song of the Year!

It would do I&W a serious injustice if that were not the case. Amazing.

Carried Home is a fine song, it's solid. ANYWAYS, Boy With a Coin is genius, and it's their best since Trapeze Swinger. It's extremely beautiful and powerful.
  • Trying The Hum Test

I go ahead and hum this "Boy With A Coin" to myself. After 30 seconds I've probably started on my third time through the same short line of melody... so eventually I hum up the chorus line: "Heyyyy-eee-yayyyy-yayyy-yay" x 2. And now where? Back to the melody? Maybe whip out the chorus again? Well whatever. This song, while skillfully conceived, is hyper repetitive is hyper repetitive. Is hyper repetitive. Tremendously, however, the lyric is Sam at his finest and, like someone said earlier, anyone could & should be excited for Shepherd's Dog. It has the kinetic energy of Woman King. It has the inspired ear-fondling of Our Endless Numbered Days. It has the realization of an ambition carved into the 4-Track of The Creek Drank the Cradle. Oh and it's got the effing F-Bomb! Finally I can listen to Iron & Wine around girls and not feel insecure about my manhood.
