This is my second time submitting this review I hope you could see it. It is the first and so far only BOC album I've bought, after I first heard the song Sixyniner on satellite radio on the freeway (Santa Maria, CA) in 2013. I associate that song with my melancholic mood as I drove off in a Lexus after having received that speeding ticket during work. Since that is when I heard it. Okay, enough with this backstory you care nothing about. Like I said , this is so far the only Boards album I really know and to compare to the others namely Music Has A Right To Children, Geogaddi, Campfire Headphase; I will say Twoism has much more of a trip-hop vibe to it.1986 Summer Fire and Melissa Juice are the distinct ones here presenting a much more nostalgic and eerily quaint warm sound to them. 1986 Summer Fire never fails to bring up a black & white camera image of a little girl playing with flowers in a field way back in the 60's. It just sounds like something from that decade. At the same time, "impending doom" comes to mind when hearing such tracks. Basefree is a decidedly frantic jungle / drum n bass-esque song that is imbued with a dark ambiance behind that pervasive bass line. The "drop" [for lack of a better word] in the middle of Basefree is simply amazing. Twoism the song is very pleasant , in my opinion it is very much trip-hop, you would think one could rap a few lines over the beat. Sixtyniner also has a downtempo trip-hop feel to it, that isone reason I like it as years ago I was into rap and hip hop before i discovered the glorious Boards Of Canada. Iced Cooly is the only track I don't care for in this set. It's too quirky for my liking. It reminds me of manic carnival clowns for some reason. Creepy. Seeya Later is a lovely track, again with the lush and assertive trip-hop influenced bass lines. This is one I like to play loud in my car for people to hear. Oirectine, what can I say about Oirectine? Like the other songs in this album, it carries with it a nostalgic and slightly dark vibe with warm sounds. The bass line is again assertive in this one. Here you go dear reader, I hope got something of my eccentric review of Twoism. Let us go into the eccentric world of 90's IDM together. Thanks iTunes

Oh my gosh. My gosh, my gosh, my gosh. I'm very new to BoC, and I only heard of them through Salad Fingers, but frick, this is my favorite electronic album so far. A beautiful blend of old school, analog synths, Lo-fi saturation, and the perfect combination of the Rhodes electric piano sound with fat, "trip-hop" drums. Up till now, I thought Mute Math and Portishead were the very best at that kind of blend, but I was so wrong. Boards of Canada has the highest pedestal in my mind. I cannot stop listening to this album. I love it so much, it breaks my heart.

This is an amazing album . . . each song has a certain degree of emotional impact that is characteristic of boards of canada, maybe even more so on this album. For me this album is very personal and triggers all these feelings I can't accurately describe. I can say, however, that this album is extraordinary and is one of my favorites ever. You MUST get this album

Twoism and Sixtyniner are some of my favorites. Boards Of Canada are highly skilled at crafting songs that make you think of some time and place, somewhere far away, in the future or past, that you probably will never go. It is a little short, but will fit nicely with my other music of theirs. However I wouldn't call it "emotronica" as the review says. What a horrible label. If BOC was emotronica, the world would be a very dark place.

Okay. I haven't written a review in a while, so here's my first 2009 review. "Twoism" is great! I love all the tracks on this release! I would reccomend that you buy "Oirectine," "Iced Cooly," "Twoism," "Melissa Juice," and "Smokes Quantity / 1986 Summer Fire." Trust me, you will not regret it!

like this one a lot. Basefree is a nice departure, Twoism is perfect driving music. Not quite as groundbreaking as some other stuff, but definitely good in its own right. iTunes: BOC Maxima next please!!

This is an essential BOC album if you are even the slightest fan of the group. It is the predecessor of Music has the Right to Children, and you can hear a lot of it's early beginnings on this album. This album will dig into the stratosphere of your inner mind. Click "add album" now.
