I recorded this track as a play-along practice piece, purely for critique by my fellow members on http://www.scottsbasslessons.com It is not intended for publication, or wider circulation. It is not for profit. I chose to play along with Cher’s recording of “Chiquitita” originally released on her (2018) ABBA tribute Album “Dancing Queen”. “Chiquitita” is a Spanish term of endearment, meaning “Little One”. It was written by ABBA founder members, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. It was one of ABBA’s biggest hits, originally released by them on the 16th January 1979. I played along with a Bass line of my own creation on this occasion. I enjoyed singing an occasional line. Don’t you think I sound like Cher? I chose to play along on my (2017) Overwater Custom Hybrid Jazz 5 string fretted Bass. It is fitted with a new set of DR Hi-Beam round wound Stainless Steel strings, in diameters 0.045 – 0.125. I played this song in ‘Active’ mode via its onboard preamp. I set the onboard three-band Treble, Mid and Bass controls at 50%. The Pan between the Neck and Bridge Pickups was also set mid-way between the Neck and Bridge PUs I routed it via my Bergantino B|AMP, which I used as an inline preamp, I set the tone controls on my Bergantino B|AMP flat. This was, yet again, a one shot ‘take’. I am pleased with the tone and quality of the sound. That was what I wanted to achieve. The only sound effect is driven by my fingers. I sent the signal from my Bergantino B|AMP direct through an XLR cable, to my Focusrite Clarett 4 Pre USB Audio Interface, which is connected to my Intel i7 powered, Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64 bit PC. The Audio track was recorded direct on Ableton Live 10 Lite recording software. The Video was contemporaneously captured, via my Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera, initially to an internal memory card, from which I subsequently downloaded it to my PC. From there, it was It was imported direct to Corel Pinnacle Studio Video Software, version 21.5. I turned off the Audio track on the original video, captured via the microphone in my camera. The higher quality Audio track was subsequently added and synchronised with the video footage. Although this camera can record HD video files up to 4k resolution, the files become far too large and unwieldy for general upload use, so I uploaded the completed composite video as a SD MPEG-4 format file, to save delay when replayed over the Internet. Enjoy ;o)
