  • Happy but…,

I love the New York Times and have relied on it for most of my adult life. The app, not so much. Two things. Updates often cause me to at worst, lose an article I was reading, at best lose my location on the home page. Second thing, I can’t locate my saved articles. Where are they? Learn from the Atlantic’s App. They make it easy.
  • Doom & Gloom

The app functions well but this review pertains to the journalism / end the constant “Doom & Gloom” articles, opinion pieces, and comment moderation. Every time I open this app, I am frustrated by the biased headlines. Update: New tactic used by NYT, “Experts said”. Welcome to the demise of journalism.

Now more than ever a free press is 10000% essential. All politicians will claim every claim against them is fake; or motivated. Sometimes they are true. The only way the voter can know the difference os through investigative reporting that is beholden to its readers… rather than the ballot box.

This used to be a great journalism resource. Now it’s just a left-wing apologist.

  • Reporting the truth

These days, these Trump days, the truth is hidden and murky, smoke and mirrors abound. One has to be careful to turn to the real truth tellers and recognize their importance in guiding our way through the lying maze. It is a teaching moment for those of us that have been raised to naively trust everybody and to see the best in every person. We are finding that some people have agendas that do not represent out best interest. Our bubbles have been popped !! But that in the long run is a good thing. We have taken our democracy and easy lives for granted. We thought it would be there forever. We thought “they” would take care of us. We are waking up in a nightmare, our worst fears realized. Could it get any worse ?? Yes! Everyday a new deception, more destruction of the checks and balances that out democracy is, was, built on. The NYT, NPR, PBS, these are my guide posts. They help me make sense of the chaos around us and keep me centered on what’s right and good and true. Keep the faith!!

This thing is always crashing. Can’t get through an article. I keep deleting it and reinstalling it only to do the same thing. Come on NYT people!
  • Use the website

The newspaper is great, and it is my daily read. The app is mediocre. You cannot scroll if your finger is on an ad, and there are very many ads. This makes the experience of navigating content in the app somewhat frustrating, as the behavior of the page is inconsistent. The website offers a smoother navigation experience.
