Just a note to say that Dave's playing and interaction with the band is worth mention. From the moment this album starts with his signature riffs on First Song, right into the bluesy swagger of Monica Jane, it gives you a taste of what's to come thoughout you hear a great band with some great jazz masters at work. Don't take my word for it, just listen for yourself.

This was a refreshing departure from the "Smooth Jazz" offerings that preceeded this project. Admittedly, I was thrown off when I first heard it. However, subsequent listens allowed me to appreciate what he was doing. It is more cerebral, and "jazz" influenced than anything else he's done.

This is a refreshing direction that David Sanborn has taken with this new CD...though it leaves me wanting more. I am notyet full when I finish listening. Even though I might like the change...I feel it needs to be recorded in front of a live audience...to give it life.
