Lots of open space on these compositions. Nice to hear him lay back and blow again. Hope he comes to Scullers Jazz Club in Boston when he tours.

I'm so excited about this album. Just like the Upfront and Hearsay album with the Marcus Miller touch, it gives the project a good groove. Good vibes only! Thanks again Dave!

I miss being able to pick up my horn and play along with every tune on his albums. Straight to the heart, Upfront, etc, This album retains his unmistakable sound but reeds seem to be retaining a little too much moisture. I recently saw Dave endorsing a product called Reed Geek. I ordered one to see what it can do. Over all, the tunes are much too mellow for me to fall in love with. I find it difficult to give anything he does less than 5 stars but Time And The River lacks a little too much fire that has had me addicted to his sound for the last 30 years. You'll learn something new from listening, just like any album he's played on but it never reaches that pinnacle trademark of musical uniqueness you know is part of his greatness and that's dissapointing. Never the less, every note is Sanborn and you know you can't live without it.
