The game (the original) was awesome. I am not a fan of Mark Wahlberg. I didn’t think it was bad. The storyline just was bad and bad acting all around.
  • Honestly ok

It’s not great like it could have been but I think it followed the queue from silent hill and made a deliberately B- movie. It has great actors, good cgi, and a plot that has honest surprises. However if they had put just a bit more into it Max Payne would be a classic. It falls short on delivery from trailer as anyone could tell you, but that’s common place now. Where it really falls short is action and or gore. It’s an action video game movie and it’s boring. Not terrible but forgettable.

Bought it despite the negative reviews. Great movie. Cheesy, at some parts, but the great effects (which still hold up) make up for it.
  • Awful

Don't listen to five star rating comments.... Not sure what movie they watched, but this movie is complete garbage. It seems like the only purpose of the movie was to see how low of a rating it could get.... Well....congratulations ! It sucked!

I was disappointed as I loved the games and they did not capture the feel that the games conveyed so well. Sin City captured what this film should have been far better. I know the Demons where meant to be hallucinations but adding them in distracted from and changed the feel from, cop going off the rails to supernatural thriller. I had always thought that because of how cinematic the games were a film would have been great.
  • Don't look to the Critics for help.

I don't know what their deal is... but the critics and I don't agree on this movie. I enjoyed it a lot. Sure.... its not perfect... but it perfectly entertains and that is the money maker right there.
  • Very Surprised...!

I saw the PG-13 version and thought lowly of it. But, when I watched the Unrated version it blasted me off my feet. Tons more shooting, action, and suspense and I couldn't even tell it was based on a PG-13 rated movie. Mark Wahlberg did an exceptional job and I hope he agrees to a sequel. I would recommend this Unrated version of Max Payne for any boy over the age of 10. Hard-hitting 5 star rating. Great recomendation!
