Lung cancer is a neoplasm that has a marked impact on public health worldwide as, in the Western World, it has become one of the primary causes of cancer-related death. It is considered to be one of the most lethal malignant tumors in the world and, despite smoking being recognized as the main risk factor, making it a preventable disease, its incidence has not decreased as expected.This work presents a review of the latest concepts regarding bronchopulmonary cancer, that is, cancer arising in the respiratory epithelium lining the bronchi and that accounts for almost 90% of malignant lung tumors.
