The app used to be good till there are virtually no articles that you can read without subscribing. And we still get ads in the main page…. Uninstalling.

I don’t know whether to blame the news or ITunes. Both admit I have a subscription but don’t know why I can’t access the app. I’ve talked with 3 reps from each company and each say it’s the other’s fault. The News says it has no record of receiving payment from ITunes and iTunes says they see my payment and I just have to activate my subscription with my account number from the Detroit News. The News says there is no account number for me because they haven’t received a payment. I guess my advice is if you want to subscribe go directly to the News and don’t subscribe through ITunes.

So convenient and can easily read anywhere, anytime, and especially nice no paper.

Sends out a million junk notifications then forces to create a free account to only force you to subscribe to read any of the articles. Just go out of business already.

The app is clunky and littered with ad content. In addition, it never actually provides breaking news alerts in a timely manner. When I receive an alert from the AP app for example, the Detroit News will usually follow 10-15 mins later with the same alert. Also, there’s no way to filter breaking news from sports updates or other content. I care about news, not repeated updates in the NFL Draft.

Mostly read the sports sections, but also enjoy the Top Stories.
