The app keeps freezing. So frustrating. 3 hours of trying to fix this piece of garbage just keeps freezing, even with new library, and clearing pref. Not srue what is going on with Apple.

I'm just switched from a Intel-based Mac to a M3 Pro, and notice some iMovie functions are not working on the new Macbook! For one, I used to be able adjust the size of the photo Kern Burn borders smoothly, Now the mouse cursor changes the shape but doesn;t move any more, and the app seems hang there. And I realized the rendering process has quality issue that the output looks pixelated in many frames when it definitely wasn't in the same app on Intel. This is the 3rd gen of Apple silicon, didn't really expect such bugs are around for this once-awesome app.

iMovie keeps on quitting unexpectedly and very hard to render/share a project.

I think that I am done with iMovie. It was free so I guess I got what I paid for.
  • There's no opacity watermark option

I love this app, it's awesome. I just can't make a watermark be transparent in the "picture in picture" setting, so I'm unable to make a watermark. Is there a way to make a watermark in the "picture in picture" setting while being able to make it transparent?
  • Won't Export

Since the new update I can't export a video I spent hours on. The app also isn't responding since I tried to export. Tried to quit so I could reopen and try and it won't respond. This has happened multiple times and even if I restart my mac it still continues.

what has happened? It takes hours to upload a video once it has been edited. I have custom changed the upload process and still, it takes hours. then after all of that, i upload it to YT studio and it takes hours. recently I tried to upload a .pg to the thumbnail area and it said file corrupted. I am doing a part 2 video, it took the first one????? can't find a solution for it.

iMovie continues to fall behind and simply not a priority for Apple and the same can be said for the iPhone version of the app. It doesn't support 4K 60fps, and even then it's not consistent in allow to export 60 fps videos. So many times I'm working with a 60 fps video and when I go to export 1080/60 isn't available. It doesn't really handle vertical videos. I alway have to rotate a vertical video so I don't have to deal with black bars on the side. This is weird since a lot of videos are shot on phones and most shoot vertical. I wish they would release an app that's in between iMovie and Final Cut. Something that's more feature rich than iMovie but cheaper than Final Cut.
